Add Fields to Terms

To help create a more comprehensive view of how data-related assets drive business goals, terms can be related to system fields. The Knowledge Tier maps field relationships to terms to deepen the connection between business strategy concepts and the technical resources that support them. This offers a holistic conceptual model that different users can explore to understand how their work directly impacts their organization’s success.

Typically, users will add fields to terms that help define data-driven rules. A term like “Country” might have several related systems and fields that help define what that term means, in every sense, for an organization.

When adding fields to a term, you can filter your results by the system in the Knowledge Tier to which you’ve uploaded field metadata or by the Name or Location of the fields you have in mind. You can separate your Name and Location search words with commas to search for multiple fields at once. Refer to the Navigation Features section in Search Results for more information about navigating the field search results.

NOTE: Assets must be in Candidate status before you can make any changes to them. Refer to Work with Asset Versions and the Endorsement Workflow for more information.
