Article Summary

To help direct the daily tasks and governance goals of our users, we provide access to the Syniti Knowledge Platform Catalog Overview dashboard. The dashboard is updated multiple times daily, so the data displayed in the dashboard is relevant to daily tasks that help guide your governance team. The Syniti Knowledge Platform Catalog Overview dashboard tracks the activities performed by governance team members by:

  • providing a quick glance of the assets that help guide governance tasks, and

  • identifying any gaps where there is unrealized value from governance.

To access the dashboard:

  1. Select Dashboards from the Home menu.

  2. Select Syniti Knowledge Platform - Catalog Overview from the Syniti Dashboard list box.

Overview Tab

The Overview tab provides a comprehensive view of your assets and how they may be improved. The Overview tab includes the following charts:

Asset Totals

You can view the total number of each type of asset that is being governed in the Knowledge Platform.

Total Assets by Asset Type

The number in the center of the Total Assets by Asset Type chart is the total number of assets in the Knowledge Platform.

The percentages that display when you hover over each status section represent the percent of assets that exist.

In this chart you can view totals for the following asset types:

  • Term

  • Rule

  • Dataset

  • Policy

  • System

  • Initiative

  • Goal

  • Business process

Total Assets by Review Status

The Total Assets by Review Status chart provides a percentage-based summary of where your company’s assets are within the review process.

The number in the center of the Total Assets by Review Status chart is the total number of assets in the tenant that can be approved (terms, rules, policies and datasets).

The percentages that display when you hover over each status section represent the percent of total assets in each review status.

In this chart you can view the following metrics:

  • % of Assets Published

  • % of Assets Unpublished

  • % of Assets in Review

Note

This chart allows you to filter the other charts and tables (except for the Total Assets by Category and Category Values chart) by clicking on the review status.

Total Assets by Owner

The Total Assets by Owner chart provides a list of Owners and the number of assets to which they are assigned.

You can click the headers for each column on the chart to sort the rows by ascending or descending order.

Click an Owner to apply a filter to the Asset Activity chart below. The chart updates with detailed information about the selected Owner's assets.

Note

This chart allows you to filter the other charts and tables (except for the Total Assets by Category and Category Values chart) by clicking on the Owner.

Total Assets by Category and Category Values

The Total Assets by Category and Category Values chart provides a list of the categories and their values. Click the category value to access a list of the assets that have those category values assigned.

You can click the headers to sort the rows by ascending or descending order.

Note

You can select any header value by which to sort after clicking a header, so if your chart sorts unexpectedly, double-check your selected header value.

To drill into the values on this chart:

  1. Click + or - to expand or contract the Category Values for a Category.

  2. Click a Category Value to see a list of all the assets that have that Category Value applied.

Asset Activity

The Asset Activity chart displays detailed information about assets that can be filtered by clicking values from the charts above.

You can click the headers to sort the rows in the columns, and you can click a record to see its asset detail page.

Note

You can select any header value by which to sort after clicking a header, so if your chart sorts unexpectedly, double-check your selected header value.

The details on this chart include:

  • Asset Type

  • Asset ID

  • Review Status

  • Owner

  • Created On date

  • Created By user

  • Updated On date

Busines Processes Tab

The Business Processes tab displays the following information about the business processes in your tenant:

  • Total Business Processes by Review Status—Shows the total number of business processes in the tenant, broken into separate sections by their review status.

  • Total Business Processes—Shows the total number of business processes in the tenant.

  • No Categories—Shows the total number of business processes with no assigned categories.

    Note

    This chart can help you locate assets that are difficult to retrieve on search. Refer to Find Assets Without Category Assignments for more information.

  • No Owner—Shows the number of business processes that have no owner.

    Note

    This chart can help you find assets that require user assignment. Refer to Find Assets Without Owner Assignment or with Inactive Users for more information.

  • No SMEs—Shows the number of business processes that have no SMEs.

  • No Relationships—Shows the number of business processes that have no relationships to other assets or fields.

  • No Business Concepts—Shows the number of business processes that are not associated to business concepts (terms).

  • Total Busines Processes by Category & Category Values—Shows business processes grouped by categories and their category values.

  • Duplicate Business Processes—Shows the names of duplicate business processes and the number of duplicates detected.

    Note

    This filters the Business Process Details chart only.

  • Business Process Details—Shows the following information for business processes:

    • Asset ID

    • Version

    • Review Status

    • Name

    • Description

    • Owner

    • SMEs #

    • Relationships #

    • Business Concepts #

    • Categories #

To customize the way your Business Process Details chart displays, you can:

  • Click the visualizations at the top of the page to apply filters.

  • Click multiple visualizations to combine filters.

  • To reset filters, click the Reset to original dashboard button on the page toolbar.

  • Click a record to see its asset detail page.

To customize the way your Duplicate Business Processes chart displays, you can:

  • Click headers to sort; the # column displays the number of duplicate records for the business process.

Datasets Tab

The Datasets tab displays the following information about the datasets in your tenant:

  • Total Datasets—Shows the total number of datasets in the tenant.

  • No Categories—Shows the total number of datasets that are not assigned to a category in the tenant.

  • No Owner—Shows the number of datasets that have no owner.

  • No SME—Shows the number of datasets with no SME assigned.

  • No Relationships—Shows the number of datasets that have no related assets.

  • No Terms—Shows the number of datasets that have no related terms.

  • No Systems—Shows the number of datasets that have no related systems.

  • No Categories—Shows the total number of goals with no assigned categories.

  • Initiatives by Level—Shows the number of company and program initiatives.

  • No Categories—Shows the total number of initiatives with no assigned categories.

  • No Owner—Shows the number of initiatives that have no owner.

  • Is Critical—Shows the number of terms marked as Critical Data Elements.

  • No Categories—Shows the total number of terms with no assigned categories.

  • No Owner—Shows the number of terms that have no owner.
