User Roles and Permissions
User Roles
The Knowledge Platform supports four user roles:
Administrator
The Administrator role has full access to all areas and functionality in the Knowledge Platform, and can create user accounts. This role should be assigned to a limited number of users.
Business Admin
The Business Admin role has the same permissions as an Author, but can also add, edit and delete categories and category values.
Author
The Author role has full access to all assets, but no access to sites, accounts or categories.
Viewer
The Viewer role has read-only access to all assets and no access to sites, accounts or categories. Viewers cannot see options that they do not have permission to, such as the Add icon for adding assets or the Edit icon to edit assets.
NOTE: Administrators have the permissions to change a user’s role. Refer to Change User Role for more information.
API User
For the API to programmatically perform tasks for a tenant, our team must configure an API User account for that tenant. The API User account will provide credentials to perform API-driven tasks. When those tasks are completed, assets will indicate that it was the API User that completed them. To request an account to access the Knowledge Platform API, please open a Support ticket. Requests may take up to two business days to fulfill.
NOTE: The API User account is managed by Syniti and can’t be edited. For more information, refer to Knowledge Platform API.

Dashboards NOTE: Syniti Customer Success creates a maximum of 10 Custom Dashboard Authors for each tenant for users who have the Administrator, Business Admin, or Author role. Custom Dashboard Authors have permissions in QuickSight to create custom dashboards and add Role-level Security to those dashboards but do not have permission for any other QuickSight features. |
