Article Summary

June 30, 2023

New Features

Scanners

New versions of the scanners are available, which include the following updates:

  • SAP HANA, SQL Server and Oracle:

    • Added support for SAP check/text table metadata from DDIC tables

    • Now extracts pool, cluster and transparent tables only

  • SAP NetWeaver:

    • Added support for SAP check/text tables

    • Now extracts pool, cluster and transparent tables only

Connector

SKP Connector has been updated to 1.1.7 to include the latest scanner updates.

Replicate

All Components

  • Added support for SQL Server Synonyms, which are used as a source table for refresh replication

  • Added support for Oracle Synonyms, which are used as a source table for refresh replication

  • Created an export API to create a replication, with specified settings, where the target is a CSV file

  • Added a Chunk Column property in file target replications, which uses the indicated column to process data load in chunk files

  • Added automatic conversion for the SAP date logic since SAP stores dates as an NVARCHAR(8) field in the format of YYYYMMDD. When refreshing an SAP table, the NVARCHAR(8) field is now converted to a DATE field in the replicated table instead of having to be manually translated via the Replicate scripting layer.

  • Introduced mirroring replication with SAP using RFC

Enhancements

Migrate

System metadata imported from the Syniti Catalog now includes the table, column, primary key, index, foreign key, check table, and text table information.

Replicate

All Components

  • Added support for Redshift ODBC driver v. 2.0.0.0

  • Added an option to file export that entirely disables the transactional info in the target schema

  • Added a predefined function, ConvertToDate, to be used in the mapping when in need to convert a string into a date

Management Center

The datetime fields in the Properties dialog show date time and timezone with reference to the Server Agent. This is useful when viewing information from a remote MC

Server Agent

Enhanced performance between the Server agent and the Syniti Knowledge Platform tenant with the following changes:

  • HTTP server - show all inner exceptions when an error is generated

  • POST/PUT replications - moved properties field to a JSON body section

Data Access

Updated Parquet library version to v. 4.10.1.

Bug Fixes

Migrate

  • Fixed an issue that occurred when you created a link between reports. The link redirected to the report's home page, then to the actual report. With the fix, this redirect does not happen.

  • Fixed an issue where the Report Group field did not display and the Report Priority list box displayed incorrect values on the Report Types page (Admin > Advanced > Report Types). With the fix, Report Priority and Report Group display as individual fields with correct list box values.

  • Fixed an issue where migration fields could not be added in Dataset Design (Dataset Design > Migration). With this fix, fields can be successfully added to the Migration tab of Dataset Design.

  • An issue was occurring when attempting to build ETL tasks if mapping from a secondary datasource where the Build ETL processes resulted in an error. Now, if mapping from a secondary source, the Build ETL process completes successfully.

  • When navigating to Administer > Advanced > Value Mapping, the Check Tables page failed to load. With the fix, the Check Tables page loads successfully.

  • An issue was occurring where the Replication Name was not populating for the Execute Replication Task Type on the Edit ETL Task page. With the fix, if a valid Replication Hub value is entered, the Replication Name field populates as expected.

  • The unlock button on the Data Mapping Details pane (Migrate > Mappings > Sources) for saved RuleXref mapping actions was missing, which locked the pane and prevented fields from being accessed. Now, when the RuleXref map action is updated and saved, the Lock icon is visible and active.

  • Fixed an issue where replications were not displaying in the Replication Name list box on the Add ETL Task page when Execute Replication was selected for the Task Type.

  • An issue was occurring that prevented users from publishing reports when using the Publish toggle on the Target Reports page if ZDEPLOY was not part of the report view. Now, a warning displays allowing users to select Continue to save the report.

  • Fixed an issue where date values were sorting incorrectly on the Snapshot Management page. With the fix, date fields sort correctly throughout Migrate.

  • When a field was changed on the Datasource Columns page (Catalog > Datasources), the record was not saved. With the fix, changes to fields on the Datasource Columns page are saved.

Replicate

All Components

  • Added a replication property, Validate on Session Start, to run a Validate before every mirroring session in order to check if all prerequisites are in place

  • Fixed an issue with trigger-based replications for HANA and Oracle with the Continue And Process algorithm option where the records were not properly processed when Max Size Mirroring Block was defined

Management Center

  • Fixed an issue with using the "Yes All" button for "Keep Transaction ID to resume replications..." because it did not impact all selected replications

  • Fixed an issue that surfaced while editing the EnableAgentSSL property

  • Fixed a transactional log settings that was being reset when changing server connection settings

  • Fixed the connection to Redshift; it was incorrectly showing the driver 32-bit version

  • Fixed an issue in the SQL Command panel; it was not showing the database and user name in the title bar

  • Fixed a SQL Azure DB error that displayed when trying to select existing master log table

  • Fixed an issue that triggered an error dialog and prevented saving when switching Insert Mode to SingleInsert for HANA connections

  • Fixed an issue in the Verifier Reconcile Data when updating records using the Verify Subset of Columns option enabled

Data Access

Fixed an issue with Snowflake; nullable field metadata was not being read correctly in Syniti Replicate

Replication Agent

  • Fixed an issue with Parquet; Syniti Replicate stored wrong values for internal fields (DATETIME, USER, TABLENAME, ACTION)

  • Fixed a rounding issue in Oracle during mirroring bulk for the BINARY_DOUBLE data type

  • Fixed an issue with Mirroring Bulk when MySQL Target database name contains special characters

  • JSON data type still not supported in mirroring from MySQL but the replication does not stop anymore because the data type is now recognized and skipped

Server Agent

  • Fixed an issue on Server Agent if SSL was enabled but not working

  • Fixed an error when running POST/replications to target FILE when creating the target table

  • Fixed alerts; Replication Agent downtime Alert timestamp didn't use the time zone information and was therefore misaligned

  • Fix erroneously sending downtime alerts for mirroring replications that are correctly refreshing

Enhancements

Catalog

We have decreased the time it takes to load large lists of objects on the Objects tab of a system.

New Features

Quality

  • MS SQL Server is now a supported data store type. Refer to Data Store for more information.

  • Data retention is now supported and can be configured by Admins using three new fields:

    • Enable Retention-Use with caution: If on, data older than the Failed Data Retention Period is deleted from your data store. Syniti recommends using the account associated with your data store to set data retention periods instead.

    • Failed Data Retention Period in Days-The number of days the error data is saved in the data store before it is deleted. Syniti recommends using the account associated with your data store to set data retention periods instead.

    • Execution History Display Period in Days-The number of days of execution history displayed for each implementation. Max is 365.

If you don't want to utilize the data retention settings, you can now store failed data quality results in MS SQL Server by building your own process to archive tables.

Bug Fix

Catalog

Fixed a performance issue where there were long delays in browsing ingested metadata on the Objects tab of a system when there was a large number of objects, such as when drilling down from 1 schema to 172K objects. To increase performance, we no longer sort objects when more than 50K records have been ingested.

Enhancements

Construct

  • The message that displays for soft required fields has been updated to be more clear and user friendly. Instead of "[Field] cannot be NULL," the message is now "[Field] should have a value." This change is only made to validations created from here on out; this updated message does not display for existing validations.

  • When downloading the data on a page to a file using the Download option on the More Actions (small gear) menu, the XLS format has been updated to XLSX.

  • Table-valued functions are now supported when recompiling a data source, i.e., clicking the Recompile Objects icon on the Data Sources page.

Migrate

  • In System Views, if a Target Datasource with tables already exists for a Subject Area, you can copy those tables into a new Target Datasource, allowing the same pass-through views built from these tables to be added to the new Datasource. Use this feature to quickly populate Target Datasources for different environments, such as Load and Dev. Refer to Copy Target Datasource Tables to a New Target Datasource for more information.

  • The following Migrate pages have been updated to use the React Javascript library:

    • Data Type Translations (Administer > Advanced > Database Types > Data Type Translations tab)

    • Dataset Design

    • Dataset Types

    • Datasource Servers

    • Datasources

    • Deployment Reports

    • Development Areas

    • Environments

    • ETL Import

    • ETL Job (Migrate > Mappings > ETL icon)

    • Guided Setup

    • Log Out

    • Mappings

    • Migration Reports

    • Milestones (PMO Dashboard > Milestones)

    • Report Details (Migrate > Report Validations > Edit icon)

    • Subject Areas

    • Validation Hub

    • Value Mappings

Bug Fixes

Syniti Knowledge Platform

Fixed an issue where only admin users were able to profile objects and run system scans. With this fix, admin, business admin and author users can now profile objects and run metadata scans. [KYB-6250, KYB-6215]

Migrate

  • Fixed an issue on the Snapshot Management page, on the Snapshot Tables tab, where the Search icon did not display. With the fix, the Search icon displays as expected on this page.

  • When adding a Snapshot table, the Schema was not defaulting correctly. Now, the schema defaults correctly for the Snapshot's system.

  • Migrate users could not assign users to roles on the Add User to Role page, which is accessed from the Users Management page (Administer > Security > Users Management). The System Role toggle was dimmed and could not be edited. The issue occurred because Administrator roles did not have the correct security access to perform the action. With the fix, Administrator users can assign roles to users on the Add User to Role page as expected.

  • When working in an SAP HANA database, the SQL code for the Readiness Update rule was incorrect and caused an error. If a record has multiple errors, the flag to generate a report related to that error was not set, and a duplicate records error displayed. With the update to the backend code, the feature works as expected.

Replicate

Syniti Replicate v.10.3.0.12 fixed an error that caused trigger-based mirroring to fail.
