About Dataset Types

Dataset Types provide field level options for each type of dataset. Adding a new Dataset Type incorporates all the fields used for that dataset type. The user can then update by field for Optional, Required, Required on Complete, or Hidden for that Dataset Type. This action updates Dataset Design.

Working with Dataset Types

View the following page by navigating to Administer > Advanced > Dataset Types from the Syniti Migrate Homepage. This page is made up of 2 panels - Dataset Types and the Dataset Type Details which provides ability to view the list of available Datasets and the details in one page.

Dataset Types

Image above can be used as reference to set up the standard Dataset Types and later modified if necessary, as per client requirements. The system is delivered with a set of dataset types pre-configured that may not be deleted, but may be edited. The user may add more dataset types based upon requirements for unique fields.

The Dataset Type list provides the following columns:

Fields

Description

Dataset Type

The name the dataset type.

Dataset Type ID

Unique identifier for the dataset type.

Description

Description of the Dataset Type.

Active

Toggle for status of Dataset Type as active/inactive.

Note

Defaults as Active.

The Search  icon on the top right corner of the pane allows you to search for a specific Dataset Type.

Add or Edit a Dataset Type

A user may Add a Dataset Type or Edit the existing Dataset Types if they are configured for editing. To add a Dataset Type:

  1. Click the Add icon to produce a new row within the Dataset Types panel.

  2. Enter the Dataset Type and Description field values.

  3. Within each of the remaining sections for Dataset Details, Data Classification, Stake Holders, Additional Details, Technical Details, Custom Attributes, and Design Details the selection for type is from a drop-down list that includes Optional, Required, Required on Complete, or Hidden. These selections configure the details of the Dataset Type for the fields behavior within each section.

Note

Defaulted Dataset Types cannot be deleted, but they can be changed.
