User Roles and Permissions

A security role represents a level of authorization. Each role contains a set of features that users associated with the role via a user group are permitted to perform. These features are selected on the Features tab of a role after the creation of the role.

User Roles

The Knowledge Platform is delivered with the following standard system user roles:

Viewer

The Viewer role has read-only access to all assets and no access to any admin components (except their own accounts page). Viewers cannot see options that they do not have permission to use, such as the Add icon for adding assets or the Edit icon to edit assets. This role provides access to the following:

• Profiling view access in System Catalog

• User access in Construct

Author

The Author role has full access to all assets, but no access to any admin components (except their own accounts page). This role provides access to the following:

• Profiling execution in System Catalog

• Users in Construct

Business Admin

The Business Admin role has the same permissions as an Author. Additionally they can perform the following:

• Add, edit and delete categories and category values

• Add and edit custom relationships

• Add and edit DQ thresholds

• Edit the mission and vision defined at the company and program levels

• Add, edit and delete translation dictionaries and their entries

• Access Profiling execution in System Catalog

• Access Web App Designer in Construct

Administrator

The Administrator role has full access to all areas and functionality in the Syniti Knowledge Platform and can create user accounts. This role should be assigned to a limited number of users.

Migrate Administrator

The Migrate Administrator role has full access to all areas and functionality in Syniti Migrate, as well as access in the SKP platform to maintain users, roles, systems and construct. This role should be assigned to a limited number of users.

Migrate Dataset Designer

The Migrate Dataset Designer role has access to maintain Dataset Design and access to view Project Setup, Field Mappings, Deployment reports and the PMO Dashboard.

Migrate Data Validator

The Migrate Data Validator role allows access to maintain Validation Scripts and Deployment Reports, as well as access to view Dataset Design, Project Setup, Mappings and Metrics.

Migrate Developer

The Migrate Developer role provides broad access in Syniti Migrate to Datasources, Dataset Design, Project Setup, Field Mapping, , Validation Hub, Metrics and Reporting.

Migrate Mapper

The Migrate Mapper role provides view access to Dataset Design, Project Setup, Reporting and access to maintain Field Mappings.

Migrate Metrics View

The Migrate Metrics View role provides access to view the Metrics Scorecard, PMO Dashboard, and System Reports.

Migrate Project Manager

The Migrate Project Manager role provides access to manage Project Setup, Validation Hub and PMO Dashboard, as well as access to view Dataset Design, Mappings and Reports.

Migrate Viewers

The Migrate Viewers role provides read-only access to Dataset Design, Project Setup, Mappings, Validation Hub, Reporting and Metrics.

API User

For the API to programmatically perform tasks for a tenant, our team must configure an API User account for that tenant. The API User account provides credentials to perform API-driven tasks. When those tasks are completed, assets indicate that the API User completed them. To request an account to access the Knowledge Platform API, open a Support ticket. Requests may take up to two business days to fulfill.

Note

The API User account is managed by Syniti and can’t be edited. For more information, refer to Knowledge Platform API.

Permissions

Permissions are determined by features selected on the Features tab of a role after the creation of the role. Refer to Roles for more information.
