Article Summary

This topic is related to the following sections:

Overview

This application provides many accessibility options for all users. Although there are settings that assist people with temporary or permanent disabilities, most of these settings can help any user in specific situations. Examples of accessibility settings include setup for reading the page aloud; adjusting the font size or style; providing options for high contrast of color between text and background; or providing access for keyboard only use.

High Contrast Color Palette

Migrate has been designed to provide strong contrast between background and the page text. This includes links, icons, buttons and any other information on the page.

For users with vision impairments or color deficiencies (struggle to distinguish between certain colors) require a black/white page setting, an option is available within the User Profile to toggle a high contrast page throughout the system. Examples of a standard page and the optional High Contrast setting for same page are provided below:

Keyboard-only navigation

This is a fundamental accessibility principle. It affects anyone who uses assistive technology, like a page reader, to navigate through a website. This includes a large range of people with motor, sensory and or cognitive impairments.

Keyboard users typically use the tab key to navigate through elements on a web page such as links, buttons and forms. This system is set up so that through the keyboard a user may navigate directly through each field for entry.

Site Map

The Site Map is listed on the Migrate Landing page and allows users to display all accessible pages of the system on one page. The user’s security limits the list of pages to view, and in this way the user may access a page without having to use a pathway.
