New Features
Data Catalog
We’re excited to announce the introduction of datastores to Data Catalog systems, which is designed to streamline system usage throughout the Syniti Knowledge Platform. This includes:
Changes to System Structure
The Data Catalog system pages have been updated to better facilitate the management of application environments. Systems in the Data Catalog now use datastores to represent specific databases such as WRKOTC, SRCFOO, TGTBAR. Datastores group relevant tables and columns, and are referenced across Orchestrate, Migrate, and Data Quality reports. Dashboards and workflows have also been updated to reflect this new structure.
Refer to Datastores for more information.
Reference to Datastores on Data Quality Reports
Data Quality reports now reference system datastores instead of business terms. As a result, any custom dashboards referencing terms will no longer contain a Data Quality Score. Custom dashboards should be updated accordingly.
Additionally, Quicksite Dashboards have been updated to the new V2 dashboard to accommodate these changes. The V1 dashboard remains available, but the V2 dashboard should be referenced for better reporting accuracy.
Relationships to Datastores
The following areas of the Syniti Knowledge Platform have been updated to reference datastores:
Orchestrate—The Run SQL Command and Run SQL with Global Address Verification workflow tasks now allow for the selection of a system or datastore.
Data Catalog Implementations—When creating an implementation, an option is available to select the datastore the implementation is associated with.
Migrate—The Catalog System information on the Datasources and Datasources Servers pages has been replaced with datastores. Refer to the Migrate section for more information.
Data Quality
You can now create new business processes through an AI-assisted content import feature on the subject area Business Processes tab. With this AI-assisted import function, you can import business processes, which contain datasets and rules, from our Data Quality (DQ) content repository into the current subject area.
Syniti’s DQ content library includes 239 SAP ECC business processes across 16 subject areas, which reference 116 datasets. There are 4500 rules associated with these datasets, with enforcements for both SQL Server and SAP HANA.
This feature allows you to efficiently choose the business processes relevant to your business and instantly import those business processes, along with the relevant datasets and rules required to make your data business-ready.
Refer to Import from Content Library for more information.
Migrate
The Catalog System information on the following Migrate pages has now been replaced with Datastores:
When creating and editing Datasources in Catalog > Datasources
When creating and editing Datasource Servers in Administer > Setup > Servers
The Datastores Integration in Migrate allows you to direct or restrict Datasource and Datasource Server connections to a specific database or Syniti Knowledge Platform (SKP) Connector associated with the database of a particular database system.
With this release, the transition from the existing Catalog System to a Datastore is achieved by mapping pre-existing information such as System, SKP Connector, Database, and Schemas to the relevant Datastore. This mapped Datastore is then displayed in the corresponding fields on the pages mentioned above. If no mapping is found, the Datastore field will remain empty and can be selected manually.
