Connecting to MongoDB

Prev Next

When connecting to a MongoDB database from the Syniti Knowledge Platform (SKP), provide the following connection properties to establish a secure and reliable connection. This article explains each property to understand what information is required and how it is used.

When you are in the Create Connection page,

  1. Select MongoDB from the Type list and enter the following details:

    Property

    Description

    Notes

    Name
    (Required)

Name of the MongoDB connection unique to the SKP.

    Not applicable

    Description

Enter a description that briefly states the purpose of this connection.

    Hostname
    (Required)

Hostname is the network name or IP address of the MongoDB machine you want to connect to.

    * The server name, for example, SQLPROD01.

    * An IP address, for example, 192.168.10.50.

    Port

The port number your MongoDB uses to accept connections.

Default: 27017; Adjust if your MongoDB instance is running on a different port.

    Database

The name of the specific MongoDB database you want to connect to.

MongoDB can have many databases; this tells the SKP which one to use.

    Username

The login name used to sign in to the MongoDB.

This login name should be an account that your administrator has created for database access.

    Password

The password for the username above.

Authenticates your connection to the database.

    Auth Source

    The authentication database.

Default: admin. Specifies which MongoDB database contains the authentication credentials. Most commonly set to the admin database.

    Replica Set

Specifies the name of the replica set if MongoDB is a member of a replica set.

When connecting to a replica set, it is important to provide a seed list of at least two MongoDB instances. If you only provide the connection point of a single MongoDB instance and omit the replicaSet parameter, the client will create a standalone connection.

    Direct Connection

Toggle on to connect directly to the specified host.

When enabled, connects directly to the specified host without discovering topology or replica set members. Useful for connecting to specific nodes in a replica set.

    Use TLS

Enable TLS/SSL encryption for the connection.

When enabled, encrypts communication between the client and MongoDB server.

    Allow Invalid TLS Certificates

Accept self-signed or invalid TLS certificates.

Use only for development/testing environments with self-signed certificates. Not recommended for production.

    Advanced Options

Use the + Add Property button to add any advanced MongoDB connection properties.

    Extended Properties

Use the + Add Property button to add any additional connection properties.
