Data Binding in Charts

If you want to bind data to or from Grid, Form, or Chart containers, an additional field (serving as a binding field) is required in the datasets associated with those containers. Data bindings control how data is presented in charts by limiting the chart data to the records defined in the Grid’s dataset.

The binding field, together with the Link to Page configuration, enables drill-down capabilities in both Grid and Chart containers, allowing for interactive behavior within those components.

In the example below, the Line Chart container is data-bound to the Grid container. When a record is clicked in the Weeks grid, the Line Chart updates to display data grouped according to the corresponding dataset. Similarly, you can configure data bindings for Pie and Bar charts as well.

Data Binding Example

In this example, the “WeekId” field in the Chart dataset serves as the binding field, linked to the “wid” column in the Grid dataset.
