Upgrade to the Syniti Replicate latest version from v10.X

Prev Next

In this article, we assume that the upgrade is from a relational database (for example, SQL Server Express Edition), as SQL Server CE was deprecated in Syniti Replicate v10.

If your installation is from SQL Server CE, refer to this article to upgrade it to another version.

Note

  • Before starting the upgrade, it is recommended to back up your metadata.

  • To prevent possible service issues, stop the Replication agent before starting the upgrade process.

You can stop the Replication Agent using Windows Services or Syniti Replicate Service Monitor in the Task Manager.

Upgrade to the Latest Syniti Replicate Version

  1. Download the installer file.

  2. Unblock the ZIP file before extracting.
When you download a ZIP file from the internet or transfer it from another computer, Windows attaches a Zone Identifier (also known as an Alternate Data Stream (ADS)) to the file. This action can cause some limitations on Syniti Replicate functionality. Complete the following steps to unblock the ZIP file:

    1. Right-click the ZIP file and select Properties.

    2. In the General tab, scroll down to the bottom of the tab and access the Security section that displays the following message: This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer.

    3. Deselect the Unblock (if the option is available) checkbox.

    4. Click Apply > OK.

  3. Execute the installer, Syniti Replicate detects your previous version in your environment and requests user confirmation.

  4. Click Yes to proceed with the installation. The Syniti Replicate Install wizard is displayed. This wizard guides you through the upgrade installation process.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Read and accept the license agreement to continue with the installation, and then click Next.

  7. On the Setup Type page, select the type of upgrade.

    1. Select Standard Installation to upgrade a local Syniti Replicate

    2. If you want to upgrade a Remote Management Center, select Remote Management Center Installation. This installation should be used on Jump Host Server.

      Note

Remote Management Center doesn’t require a license for upgrade process.

    3. Click Next.

  8. Enable or disable the Digital Signature Verification as required. By default, this verification is disabled. Click Next.

  9. A confirmation message is displayed to continue. Click Upgrade. Syniti Replicate will update the services as part of the upgrade process.

  10. To confirm this process, select Automatic close and attempt to restart applications and click OK.

The upgrade process is now complete.

  11. Select the Run Management Center Now checkbox and click Finish.

Post Installation Steps

  1. In the Syniti Management Center, expand your local Metadata. A confirmation message will be displayed. This action allows Syniti Replicate to convert your previous Metadata to the latest version automatically.

  2. If you want to run a metadata backup before converting your previous metadata, select the Run a metadata backup before upgrading checkbox. This backup is important if you need to downgrade your Syniti Replicate for any reason.

  3. Click Yes or No as required to complete.

You can now see the Metadata running in the new version.
