Article Summary

Assets can be sorted into logical groups called categories. Categories help organize data into meaningful groups that can help you by offering insights, improving accessibility, and streamlining workflow.

Only Administrator users have permission to add and edit categories and values, which can be applied to assets. Refer to Assign Categories for more details.

Note

Categories and category values support special characters.

Create a Category

To create a category:

  1. Verify you’re in the Admin module of the Syniti Knowledge Platform.
    Or
    Select Admin from the Profile menu to navigate to the Admin module of the Syniti Knowledge Platform.

  2. Under Business Settings, click Categories in the Admin menu.

  3. Click the Create category button.

For details about a specific field, hover over the Help icon.

For more information about categories, click the Page help icon on the Site menu.

Edit a Category

Note

Changes made to category or category value names can take up to 30 seconds to display correctly in the search results for related assets.

Note

If a category value has been assigned to any version of an asset (unpublished or published), the value and the category containing that value cannot be deleted for auditing purposes. The delete icon does not display for the category and value in this scenario.

To edit a category:

  1. Verify you’re in the Admin module of the Syniti Knowledge Platform.
    Or
    Select Admin from the Profile menu to navigate to the Admin module of the Syniti Knowledge Platform.

  2. Under Business Settings, click Categories in the Admin menu.

  3. Click the Edit Category icon on the category.
