Schedule Replication Jobs

Overview

Replicate Preview allows you to efficiently schedule a replication job at regular intervals, across the following levels in a workspace:

  • Target Level: Schedules the replication job for the replications associated with one or more source datastores.

  • Source Level: Schedules the replication job for the replications associated with the selected source datastore.

  • Group Level: Schedules the replication job for a group of replications.

  • Replication Level: Schedules the replication job for a single replication.

Schedule a Replication Job

Replication jobs can be scheduled at the above-mentioned levels in a workspace, but the steps to schedule it remains the same. Replicate Preview considers your local time zone when scheduling and executing replication jobs.

To schedule a replication job:

  1. Identify and select the required replication, group, source, or target object from its corresponding panels in a workspace. Note that the Schedule icon for the identified object is not filled.

  2. Click the Schedule icon. The Manage Schedule dialog box is displayed with the selected object displayed next to the dialog box’s header.

  3. Click the Effective As Of datetime picker to specify when this schedule should become effective.

    • Clicking the Now button sets the current date and time of your time zone as the effective start time.

  4. Use the Recurrence list to define how often the replication job should repeat. The Recurrence list offers the following recurrence options:

    • Hourly: Set the interval in hours and minutes.

    • Daily: Specify how many days apart with a specific time the replication job should run. For example, set the job to run every day, or every 2, 3, or more days.

    • Weekly: Specify the number of weeks between each occurrence. Additionally, select specific days of the week with specific time (for example, run a job every two weeks, specifically on Sundays and Mondays at 5:00 AM in the GMT+5:30 time zone) on which the job should execute.

    • Monthly: Specify how many months apart the replication job should repeat. Other options to run the job on a specific date and time of the month, on a particular weekday (for example, the second Monday of the month), or on a particular last day of a month with specific time.

  5. Click the Add button to add the first recurrence.

  6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 as required to set up multiple recurrences

    Note

Replicate Preview executes the replication job only when you add one or more recurrences.

  7. Click Save.

You have successfully scheduled a replication job for the identified object. Note that the Schedule icon for the identified object is filled, denoting that a schedule is set for it.

For each replication job that is scheduled, a workflow of Replicate type is created in the Orchestrate module to store the execution history of the same replication job. Refer to Replicate Workflows in Orchestrate for more information.

Note

You cannot edit a recurrence that is set. Instead, you can delete the recurrence and add another to modify the recurrence of the replication job.

Delete a Recurrence in a Schedule

  1. Identify and select the required replication, group, source, or target object from its corresponding panels in a workspace. Note that the Schedule icon for the identified object must be filled.

  2. Click the Schedule icon. The Manage Schedule dialog box is displayed with the selected object displayed next to the dialog box’s header.

  3. Click the Delete button next to the corresponding recurrence on the list.

    Note

Deleting all recurrences will disable the replication job’s schedule.

  4. Click Save.

You have successfully deleted a recurrence in a scheduled replication job or disabled the replication job’s schedule for the identified object. If you have disabled the replication job’s schedule, the Schedule icon for the identified object is not filled, denoting that a schedule is not set for it.
