About User Deployment

The User Deployment section of Security maintains user access to Deployments. All project team members, client staffing, and any consultants who require access to view or use the Syniti Migrate module to perform their job tasks need to have a user created within Admin > Users in the Syniti Knowledge Platform (SKP). Refer to Create a User for more information.

Note

If a user is disabled in the SKP Admin module, they will be unavailable in the Migrate module.

The User Deployment section of Migration provides the user with access to view filtered reporting based upon the applied Deployment.

Prerequisites for User Deployment

  • Syniti Migrate ties together the User and the Role from the SKP’s Admin module. Map out the user-role setup sequence (Roles first, then Users, or vice versa), and ensure the migration order supports the security model defined in Admin > Roles

  • Every user of Syniti Migrate must have already been setup with the SKP’s Admin module through Syniti Support Service.

  • The Deployments are created as part of Migrate > Project Setup and they are uniquely assigned to a Project / Release. User Deployment ties the user to one or more Deployments for the purpose of filtering data in reports.

Working in User Deployment

Access Administer > Security > User Deployment to view the User Deployment page. The list of users is provided from the Users page in the SKP’s Admin module. Multiple Deployments can be assigned to a User. Users can be internal (Syniti) or external users (Business/Client).

The User Deployments panel displays every active Deployment in the Migration Application. The column headers for Deployments panel are used as follows:

Heading

Definition

User Name

Displays the Migrate user name of the user, which is Email address without the domain.

Full Name

Name of the user

zDeploy

Name of the Deployment

Deployment Name

Name of the Deployment

The Search  icon in the upper right of the panel enables searching in any columns. Use the Download icon to export the current user deployment as a report in an Excel Spreadsheet.

Assign Users to Deployments in Bulk

  1. Download the Template: On the User Deployment page, click the Download Template button. An Excel file will download that shows you the exact format and structure expected.

  2. Prepare Your Data: Open the downloaded template and add User Name, zDeploy, and Active status records following the template structure. Ensure all required fields are completed and save the file.

    Note

Do not alter the column headers or structure of the template.

  3. Upload the File: Return to the User Deployment page and click Import Users. Upload the prepared Excel file.

  4. Review the Import Summary: After uploading, the Import Users dialog box displays the Import Summary showing new assignments, existing assignments to be skipped, and invalid assignments with error details. If there are errors, fix them and repeat Steps 1 through 3.

    Successful Import

    Failed Import

  5. Click Done.

Manage User Deployments in Bulk

Administrators can select multiple users in bulk and assign or remove their deployment access in a single operation, improving efficiency and reducing configuration errors. To manage deployment assignments to users in bulk:

  1. Select the checkbox displayed before the required user names. The Bulk Edit button is now enabled.

  2. Click Bulk Edit. The Bulk Edit dialog box is displayed.

  3. Select the required operation to be performed on the selected users. You can do the following operations:

    • Replace All: Allows you to replace all deployments with new deployments for the selected users.

    • Add to Existing: Allows you to add selected users to the existing deployments.

    • Remove Specific: Allows you to remove selected users from specific deployments.

    • Remove All: Allows you to remove selected users from all deployments.

  4. From the Deployments list, select the required deployments for the intended operation.

  5. From the Status list, select Set Active.

  6. Click Apply Changes.

The Status list allows you to mark the selected users as Active or Inactive for the selected deployments.

Note

Selecting Set Inactive removes the assignment of the selected users from those deployments.

Manage a Single User

To manage deployments for a single user:

  1. Identify the required user and click Edit Deployments in the zDeploy column.

  2. Select or deselect the required deployments.

  3. Click Save.
