Syniti Migrate Architecture

Syniti Migrate is designed to work with virtually any legacy data source, providing native support for Microsoft SQL Server and nearly any disparate database or file system through Microsoft or vendor-supplied OLE, ODBC drivers and REST Web Services.

The Syniti Migrate user interface employs a state-of-the-art user experience executed within the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) extensible web server engine.

The Syniti Migrate underlying database requires a minimum of SQL Server 2019+ for access to configuration and migration project-related registration data, which define project and ETL objects and meta-data.

Syniti Migrate Architecture 

Prerequisites

Application server running Windows Server 2019 or greater

  • SQL Server 2016 SP1 (version 13.0.4001.0) or greater

    NOTE: Use SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS for correct collation

  • Microsoft IIS 7.0 or greater - Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or greater

  • Browsers: Chrome 66 and Firefox 59 or later. NO Internet Explorer, NO Edge, and NO Safari.

  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) – vcredist_x86.exe

  • If using an SAP HANA Database, HANA drivers must be same version as shipped with Syniti Migrate.

NOTEA project that uses SQL Server as the ETL requires installing the Enterprise version (x64) to ensure that there is enough db size available. The Express version, does not provide the space needed to run a full migration project. Refer to the Hardware Requirements Guide for more details.

Initial Setup and Configuration

Connecting to Syniti Migrate:

Syniti Migrate runs as a website on Syniti's network. Authorized users have access to a Tenant, accessed remotely from a VPN connection. The client supports the server that extracts, translates, and stores tables and rows of data from legacy systems. The system requires installation of Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Services) and a supported, standard web browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

The user is assigned a Tenant that includes access to the Syniti Migrate application, and they are provided a logon by the Syniti Cloud Ops team to the Knowledge Platform. Once they log into the Knowledge Platform system, their logon is activated. When a user selects to access Syniti Migrate for the first time their account is created based upon the access they received from Knowledge Platform. Refer to section About Role Management for details of the relationship between Syniti Knowledge Platform security roles and Syniti Migrate security roles.
