Syniti Migrate is a web-based accelerator tool that provides an improved solution to data migration processes of legacy system data. The software enables efficient steps to address the multiple challenges between conventional technical tool sets and business visibility. One vital outcome is an increased consumer trust in data and reports, and an improved ability to accurately analyze immediate impact on the inevitable migration changes.

This solution provides the ability to define systems, data tables, reports and their underlying attributes.

Syniti Migrate Architecture

Syniti Migrate is designed to work with virtually any legacy data source, providing native support for Microsoft SQL Server and nearly any disparate database or file system through Microsoft or vendor-supplied OLE, ODBC drivers and REST Web Services.

The Syniti Migrate user interface employs a state-of-the-art user experience executed within the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) extensible web server engine.

The Syniti Migrate underlying database requires a minimum of SQL Server 2019+ for access to configuration and migration project-related registration data, which define project and ETL objects and meta-data.

Prerequisites

A database instance to host the Migrate 'Working Databases' where customer data that is to be processed is persisted. Three database technologies are currently supported for the Working Database Environment:

• Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or later

  • 100+ GB hard drive space

  • 8 - 16 available processing cores

  • 32 - 64GB memory

• Oracle Release 12.2 or later

  • 100+ GB hard drive space

  • 8 - 16 available processing cores

  • 32 - 64GB memory

• SAP HANA

  • RAM = (size of uncompressed business data / compression factor) x 2

    • Compression factor varies based on actual data; 2 - low, 4 - medium, 8 - high

    • For example, 100GB of business data using a medium compression factor is (100 / 4) x 2 = 50GB. On SAP HANA Cloud this would require an instance of 60GB as RAM is allocated in 15GB blocks. CPU and disk sizing is determined automatically from the RAM size.

Initial Setup and Configuration

Connecting to Syniti Migrate:

Syniti Migrate runs as a website on Syniti's network. Authorized users have access to a Tenant, accessed remotely from a VPN connection. The client supports the server that extracts, translates, and stores tables and rows of data from legacy systems. The system requires installation of Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Services) and a supported, standard web browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

The user is assigned a Tenant that includes access to the Syniti Migrate application, and they are provided a logon by the Syniti Cloud Ops team to the Knowledge Platform. Once they log into the Knowledge Platform system, their logon is activated. When a user selects to access Syniti Migrate for the first time their account is created based upon the access they received from Knowledge Platform. Refer to section About Role Management for details of the relationship between Syniti Knowledge Platform security roles and Syniti Migrate security roles.
