The Validate section of Syniti Migrate is a grouping of processes that provide validation of data. Reports track progress throughout the project to ensure timely and efficient project completion. They provide to the client an audit trail of data and statistical outcome of the conversion and load to target.
There are two types of reports: Migration and Deployment. Each group the reports for specific use.
Process | Description |
|---|---|
Lists by Milestone the tasks associated with completion of the object for conversion. | |
These reports contain all records for the type of report. They are useful for areas where the data does not require security to split the data into sections and multiple reports. | |
These reports contain an additional filter by Deployment to separate the data into sections - multiple reports. This is very handy for situations where the data has security requirements. Ex: GL Accounts or Cost Centers could be split by the Deployments for Company code. |
Migration and Deployment reports are grouped by Release, Subject Area, and Type. The user's security and access filters to the set of reports that are relevant to their security role(s). There is no work involved to add the reports to these pages.
Note
Reports become available in Migration Reports for review across environments when the Active flag is enabled. To make reports accessible in Deployment Reports, both the Active and Publish flags must be enabled.
You can toggle these flags on the Target Reports page in Migrate > Mappings > Targets > Reports. Refer to Maintain Target Reports for more information.
Dependencies on Data Mapping
Migration reports are tied to specific objects, datasets and sources to generate accurate reports in real time. During the mapping process, a base set of reports are generated and maintained by target table for standard views. Those reports as well as additional added reports by the developers are then viewed by the team through this menu path.
The reports for validation are dependent upon having all check table views built in the working database prior to creating the target reports. If the pass-through checks are not in place, the reports fail to run. Refer to section Migrate > Mappings > Create Reports for steps for preparation of these validation reports.
The reports require a valid view created within the working database that stores the filtered data. Auto-generated reports do not run if the query setup is not valid and the actual view does not exist in the working database. Refer to section Migrate > Mappings > Create Reports for steps for preparation of these validation reports.
These validation reports are dependent upon the report being set as Active within the Target Reports section of Mappings. Each report is visible in this section only if the toggle for Active is turned on.
Data must exist within the Target Table and supporting tables used in these reports.
Users & Roles in Migration Reports
Throughout the project, the validators may request output in the form of reports to check against the validation of conversion, the results of correcting for defects, and other check points. Users, with appropriate security, can view, filter, sort, group, and download reporting data to a local drive at any time. These reports are executed during the conversion of the data, and the results may be accessed by the client staffing.
Roles | Definition |
|---|---|
Validator | The business person responsible for validation of the conversion data. |
Mapper | The business person responsible for mapping the data. |
Developer | The user developing the process in Syniti Migrate. |
Project Manager | The person responsible for the daily tasks of the project. |
